TRAININGLoader Operator Safety TrainingIntroduction The purpose of this course is to educate people who perform loader/heavy lift operations on the rules, regulations and proper application of safe work practices and operating procedures involved in day-to-day activities. It is designed for individuals who have a basic understanding of, or who are actively involved in these activities. Classroom exercises involve the use of many training aids, visual and audio-visual materials. The practical portion of the course requires the use of a loader/heavy lift truck. The equipment must be in safe, acceptable, certified working condition in accordance with safety regulations, prior to course commencement. Objectives The operator will:
2. Be able to explain reasons for maintaining up-to-date maintenance records, and why proper maintenance is important for safe, efficient and productive operation. 3. Identify the controls and their purpose, and demonstrate the proper use of these controls. 4. Identify machine components and their functions. 5. Explain loader/heavy lift equipment safety features, and their importance. 6. Be familiar with Occupational Health and Safety Regulations with regards to employer/employee/supplier responsibilities, and the General Safety Regulations. 7. Be able to describe safeguarding of work areas and control measures. 8. Be familiar with any site-specific rules or procedures that may apply.
